West County Elementary School Bulletin for Wednesday, March 29, 2017
Morning Library Open Daily while school is in session. The elementary will open the library every morning that school is in session from 7:00 to 7:55. Elementary students may come in to the library for homework help, to read books or magazines, and use the computers for educational purposes. This is part of the 21st Community Learning Center Grant and our After School Achievement Program called ASAP. It begins August 118th and ends on the last day of school.
ASAP Program Beginning Monday, August 22nd, our school district will resume the After School Achievement Program, entitled ASAP. At the elementary, Science instruction will be on Monday & Thursday. Math instruction will be provided on Tuesday and Friday. Wednesdays will consist of physical fitness and fun service learning projects as well as computer lab. Homework assistance, health and physical fitness education, and reading instruction through tutoring will be made available daily. Many clubs will be offered throughout the week and you will be notified when they begin. There is no ASAP on the early out days or during Parent Teacher Conferences. We will have ASAP each day, Monday through Friday, from the end of the school day until 5:30 p.m. A bus will leave the elementary by 5:00 to take students to designated drop off locations. K-2nd elementary students must be picked up at the bus door by an adult. Parents may pick their children up at anytime during the evening by coming by the ASAP office before 5:00 and then at the elementary library by 5:30 to sign them out. All students must be picked up before 5:30. If a student isn’t picked up on time, warnings will be sent home, and then dropped from the program after the third incident. The ASAP OFFICE is located next to the counselor’s office by the cafeteria exit. A free supper will be served daily around 4:10 p.m through Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Child and Adult Care Program. All students attending any after school program must enroll in ASAP; this includes students attending the tutoring programs, clubs and extra curricular activities. We will be open on the following holidays, Columbus Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Martin Luther King Jr. day, & President’s Day if school is in session. Any student sent to the office for discipline problems will receive a warning for the first offense, be placed on probation for the second offense, and be removed from the program for four weeks if there is a third offense. This will include incidents on the ASAP bus. Notes will be sent home each time this occurs. If you would like your child to attend this program please complete the form below and return to Lisa Puller. New enrollees after September may enroll during the first week of any new month. Please contact Lisa Puller at 562-7558 if you have any questions. Mr. T. Watson
